Opening for Beverly Glenn-Copeland at East End United Church, Toronto. December 2025. Photographer Green Yang.
A single from the Shift Circuit cycle. Black Gaze is a study in texture and refusal, taking its name from Tina M. Campt's A Black Gaze (MIT Press, 2021), which names the practice of looking with the weight, refusal, and intimacy of Black study rather than being looked at through the white gaze. The song lives in that turning. Texture as method. Refusal as form. The cover sits in the same field as the rest of Shift Circuit, a 2024 album about sentience and ferality.
